Migraine is defined as a moderate to severe headache. Indicative signs of migraine are a throbbing pain on the side of the head often accompanied by other symptoms such as nausea and vomiting, as well as a heightened sensitivity to light and/or sound, referred to as aura. In certain individuals these associated symptoms can be experienced without a headache in what is called a silent migraine.

Zolmitriptan is the active ingredient of Zomig (zolmitriptan) tablets and belongs to a class of drugs known as the triptans. Zomig (zolmitriptan) tablets work to treat the root cause of migraines through a complex neurological mechanism of action. By acting on serotonin (5HT) receptors in the brain, Zomig (zolmitriptan) tablets enable the contraction (or narrowing) of blood vessels in the brain, resulting in successful treatment of migraine and its associated symptoms.
