Epiduo gel is a prescription only medication used in the treatment of moderate to severe acne. It contains two active ingredients;

Benzoyl peroxide – a keratolytic (peeling) agent with antibacterial properties

Adapalene – belonging to a group of compounds known as retinoids, it works by helping to reduce inflammation in acne prone regions as well as reducing the formation of blackheads and whiteheads on the outermost layer of the skin.

Coming from the same group of compounds as Tretinoin (another commonly used acne treatment), Adapalene is a 3rd generation retinoid and is newer and often better tolerated.
