Should you buy ellaOne?
It is known to be more effective than any other forms of emergency contraception and has up to a 95% success rate if taken within 5 days, or 120 hours, of having unprotected sex. Unlike other forms of emergency contraception which only work up to 72 hours after having unprotected sex, ellaOne morning after pill works up to 5 days (120 hours) after, providing you with greater peace of mind and enabling you to work around your own schedule.
Although ellaOne 30mg tablets are licensed for use up to 5 days after unprotected sex, it is always recommended that you take it as soon as possible. For the majority of women ellaOne tablets are perfectly safe to use and generally well tolerated, however there are certain medical conditions which, if applicable to you, can mean the treatment may be unsuitable. For more information or if you would like to know whether the medication is suitable for you, please contact one of the Smart Chemist pharmacy team.
What dose should I choose?
ellaOne 30mg is a single dose tablet, which means you are only required to take one tablet per treatment course.
It is always important to check that any medication you are taking is suitable for you. ellaOne (ulipristal acetate) is not suitable for women who are:
Allergic to any of its ingredients
Suffer from Asthma
When using the ellaOne morning after pill, if you are currently on the combined oral contraceptive pill, you would need to stop your daily contraceptive pill and restart it 5 days after taking ellaOne. During this period you must use alternative forms of contraception (ie barried methods – condoms). Additionally, ellaOne can only be used once within the same menstrual cycle.
How should I take ellaOne?
EllaOne 30mg tablets should be taken orally as a single dose per treatment course. It should be taken as soon as possible following unprotected sexual intercourse, and can be taken with or without food. In the unlikely event you feel unwell with vomiting or diarrhoea occuring within three hours of taking the medication, a further dose should be taken immediately. Please contact one of the Smart Chemist pharmacy team who will be able to help you further.
If your next period following treatment with the ellaOne morning after pill is more than 5-7 days late, you are required to take a pregnancy test and consult a medical professional as there is a chance you may be pregnant. Urgent medical attention would also need to be sought if you begin to experience pain in the lower part of the abdomen.
With any form of emergency contraception, the Smart Chemist team recommend using barrier methods (i.e. condoms) until you start long term regular contraception, and for an additional 5-7 days from the commencement of regular contraception.
Emergency contraception does not protect you from the risks of contracting sexually transmitted infections.
How does ellaOne work?
EllaOne contains the active ingredient ulipristal acetate, which works by halting the female sex hormone progesterone. By doing so the ellaOne morning after pill is able to protect against unwanted pregnancy by preventing the release of an egg from the ovaries, this is done by delaying or stopping the process of ovulation.
If you have had unprotected sex within the last 5 days, or 120 hours, and need the morning after pill, you can buy ellaOne 30mg tablets online at Smart Chemist.
What are the side effects of ellaOne?
For most women ellaOne tablets are perfectly safe to use and generally well tolerated, however some women may experience the following side effects:

Swelling or tenderness of breasts.
Urgent medical attention would also need to be sought if you begin to experience pain in the lower part of the abdomen.
